I think it’s a great idea, though I do reuse them and there are many recycling programs. A ban can also stop pollution at its source, the factories. By discouraging people to use plastic bags, companies will in turn make less of them. This will probably effect jobs but maybe it’ll force large companies to come up with more earth friendly alternatives in order to survive. This is a perfect time really, Fashion totes and shopping bags are definitely in style – as living green becomes more mainstream.
